Happy Birthday, J.R.R. Tolkien

Today would've been the 121st birthday of the man ultimately responsible for Peter Jackson's career. I wish I could say I'm a huge Tolkien fan. I've never even seen The Lord of the Rings movies (much to the chagrin of a few of my geekier friends). I also tried, by the urging of my stepmom, to read The Hobbit like 30 times as a young girl and just couldn't give a crap about Bilbo Baggins. But recently I've thought about giving The Hobbit another try. Hey, Dickens and I came to an understanding once I became an adult. Maybe the same mending of fences will happen between me and good ole John Ronald Reuel.

Anyway... Happy Birthday, J.R.R. May The Hobbit (IN THEATERS NOW!) add even more insane wealth to your already exorbitant estate. I'm sure the great-great-grandkids thank you (and Peter Jackson)!
