Today we celebrate the birthday of beloved cartoonist, poet and children's author, Theodor Seuss Geisel... better known to the world as Dr. Seuss. We all grew up with his witty and whimsical creations... we wanted to spend rainy days with The Cat in the Hat and save the trees with The Lorax. His words and characters have become a part of our lexicon and each new parents passes down their love of Dr. Seuss to their own children. In this way, Dr. Seuss will live on forever.

In celebration of the man who gifted us with his art and words, the National Education Association has deemed March 2nd "Read Across America Day". Across the United States today, children are participating in activities and events that encourage a love of reading. The NEA is making reading fun and exciting for children... an accomplishment we can thank Dr. Seuss for. His books made reading something that children enjoy and have even inspired these children to grow up to be writers themselves! Thank you for all you have given us, Dr. Seuss! This one's for you!

And as an aside, Danny Devito, Taylor Swift and Zac Efron are now starring in the animated movie "The Lorax" that is in theaters now! As a birthday gift to Dr. Seuss, grab your popcorn (I suggest eating popcorn with Reese's Pieces mixed in... it will change your life) and a giant fountain soda and head to your local movie theater to celebrate the genius of this artist.
