Synopsis:

The Sound and the Fury is the tragedy of the Compson family, featuring some of the most memorable characters in literature: beautiful, rebellious Caddy; the manchild Benjy; haunted, neurotic Quentin; Jason, the brutal cynic; and Dilsey, their black servant. Their lives fragmented and harrowed by history and legacy, the character’s voices and actions mesh to create what is arguably Faulkner’s masterpiece and  one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century.

Let's set the scene...

Rory is (still) having a tough time fitting all of her books in her backpack.

Lorelai: You don't need all of these.
Rory: I think I do.
Lorelai: Edna St. Vincent Milay?
Rory: That's my bus book.
Lorelai: Uh huh. What's the Faulkner?
Rory: My other bus book.

My thoughts:

It took me a year and 9 months to read.  What do you think I thought about it?

Use punctuation, my man!

Who do I see reading this in the Stars Hollow gazebo?

Jess would think Faulkner's incomprehensibility is soooo eddddddgy.  And maybe it is.  I don't think I'll ever know.  Billy and Jess... you deserve each other.
